100 years ago, when the world was turned upside down by a pandemic, a small group of independent game developers decided to make a sequel to Reventure.
All their fanbase claimed for a pixelated videogame sequel named Reventure 2, but they decided to go instead with a vector-toon tabletop game no one asked for. Somehow, it worked out.
Legend foretold that gathering the 4 legendary orbs would make any wish come true, but in the end it took 1551 backers instead.
Your support has been overwhelming, all your feedback, comments, fanarts, cosplays… have been more than we could’ve dreamt of.
Bottom line is: THANKS. So much. For believing in Orbtale.
Ugh, something got stuck in my eye… Let’s make a little recap of all the stuff you’ve achieved during the last days of the campaign.
You just unlocked 2 extra characters!
Reaching 1250 backers has unlocked a new character, made with 100% natural materials, completely static and full of lemons. It was Javi's personal favourite. Dear Reventurers, let’s give a fresh welcome to…
Javi's taste is very special...
"What kind of character is that???" you might be thinking. Well, Javi is the designer in charge and we have to deal with these kind of sillyness everyday, but worry no more! Since you sprinted through the 1250 backers milestone right into the 1500 one, there's another hero yet to be unlocked. And this time YOU will decide which character is that. We'll send you a poll in the next days with a few candidates. Here are some: The Chef, The Viking, The Banker, The Slime, The Scientist... soon more candidates to come! (including its possible skills).
What? You also have an amazing idea for a character? We're alwais listening on our Discord!
You also unlocked 6 new items...
Palma's going to be busy the next weeks. Lots of new stuff to draw. Specifically, a new item for each 5k$ raised after the $40k milestone. Here 'are the descriptions of the new items you've already added to your backpack:
The Balloon: Eliminate your opponent but without stealing any cards from them afterwise.
The Dark Cloak: Flip all your hearth containers.
The Glove: Swap 2 cards in your inventory with 2 at random from your opponent’s.
The Jars: Swap the discard pile with the treasure deck.
The Bandana: You and the opponent are eliminated, but if you have characters in your reserve, you still get to steal up to three cards.
The Boots: Take the turn token* and give it to a player of your choice (the turn token* is a new mechanic we’ll introduce soon).
To be fair, you didn’t unlock “The Boots”, but we added them anyway so the rock-paper-scissors balance is kept so… that one’s on the house! ;)
...and a new game mode!
Your amazing Orbtale cosplays have unlocked Single Player / Co-op mode rules for Orbtale!! We’ll work on polishing the concept and share them soon. Right now we can share that this game mode is about the way back home of the heroes who couldn't gather the orbs.
What now?
The campaign has come to an end. But with all the unlocked content, balances and work ahead, Orbtale is actually just getting started.
Here’s what comes next:
Resting: Something most of you probably know already is that Pixelatto’s team members are mostly human. Something you may not, is that running a Kickstarter campaign is exhausting. So first things first: we’ll get some promised things in order like the digital rewards / Reventure steam-keys and then some of us will probably get a few days off to reboot our primitive human brains. I know, it’s boring, but keeping us alive works in your best interest. Let’s move on to the good stuff after that...
Improving the game: We are still working on making the game as fun as possible. We have some balance updates we’ll share with you soon and small rule changes that improve the game overall. Your feedback is key in order to make Orbtale the best possible game, so feel free to share your thoughts on our...
Discord server: If you want to get involved in the development or share your thoughts about Orbtale, you can join our Discord server. Also, you can get special roles depending on your pledge there (ask @Palma#3528 for it). You have a guide on how to ask for it on the #4 Update.
Pledge management: In the next weeks, we’ll set up Backerkit, our pledge manager, and enable some features some of you demanded through the campaign, like add-ons and late pledges.
Digital rewards: the digital goodies pack will be sent via pledge manager on the following days. We’re still cropping wallpapers, organising files and so on. As we also mention on the FAQ, the initial contents could be expanded from time to time. So stay tuned!
Collect backer data: In a few months, we’ll gather all the information needed for delivery via BackerKit. We’ll send you a form at some point to collect data about your language of preference, details about some rewards (like the T-shirts), your address… all the stuff required for proper fulfillment.
Proof-reading, translations, files preparation: there will be a period in which we’ll be in contact with our manufacturers for setting everything up, preparing the files and formats they need, translating to the languages needed… It takes time for such a big project, but we will make sure to update you during this process as well. In the meantime, we will do our best to optimize the final shipping costs, then proceed to send you the charge for shipping via BackerKit.
Manufacturing and fulfillment: everything related to packaging your beautiful game, right to your door.
Now that we’re seeing the end of these rough time, we want Orbtale to help you build new wonderful moments around a table with your friends and family. Hopefully with no masks, so we can all see our laughs as we used to do, not so long ago :)

We've already unlocked 5 additional characters, adding to a whooping total of 20 with the expansion. That's really something but... if we could reach 1250... I really have something unique in store for you.
It's my favourite character design and I'd love to see it included. Could you make that happen? Prettyplease? I promise it won't dissapoint you. Or maybe it will.

This PDF includes the rules of the game and all cards in the Retro Pixel Deck. That means, it’s extremely portable due to its smaller size!

New stretch goal available
It has been discussed that, having unlocked extra players, it would be great to expand the inventory pile too. That's why we open a new stretch goal for all backers: when we reach 40.000$, you'll unlock a new item! We won't be able to decide and show this item as fast as we do with characters, because preparing its effect, balance and art takes time. But we hope this encourages you to bring more friends to contribute. As you see, the bigger the support the more things you get for free!
Some of you asked for the #OrbtaleCosplay stretch goal. If you don't have twitter, you can also use our hashtags on instagram. However, if you do that try to contact us in any way or form so we can see it for sure. This is applicable to other hashtag related stretch goals (such as #fanartOrbtale). The only exception is for the Print&Play unlocked using #Orbtale, because Twitter is the platform we're tracking for that goal.
Have a look to our stretch goals again and tell everyone to participate to get the good stuff!!
